    Robert Jack Galbraith was born in 1956, in Paisley, Scotland and moved to Ontario, Canada in 1964. His journalism career began in 1988 as a feature photographer for the Montreal Daily News. Since then he has written and/or photographed for numerous publications in North America and Europe and currently works principally for the New York Times.

    He is married with three children and has been living in Montreal since 1976. His other interests include fishing, birdwatching, nature in general, archaeology and winter sports.
